Stick to 1/2 cup serving just like beans. It is essentially the same nutrition as other bean sources. It does count as one protein, the thing is that overall the protein in beans is relatively low in comparison to an equal calorie amount of say chicken breast. So that is why we say 1 serving a day, would rather you get the bulk of your protein from lean meat sources as this will keep you feeling full throughout the day.
