Whew! I am kind of glad I’m not alone in this. Of course I wish we all had 100% support of family and friends but it helps me to know others have similar issues and are still triumphant in their goals to be healthy!
I just started this week. It is important that I don’t force my values and ideals on my husband. As many of you said, your family must want to change for themselves. Unfortunately my husband doesn’t have the same respect for me. Yesterday it was McDonald’s and ice cream, today it was pizza and chips. Tomorrow he will be out of the house so I will have a nice lunch by myself.
He travels during the week, so I have some latitude but I still have to be around all of his junk food that sits in the house all of the time.
I’ve decided to make my own food, tell him what I’m making and then he can figure the rest out. That would work – in theory. Unfortunately he is helpless and hopeless at taking care of himself. So I have to cook his crap food for him too. Unless it involves putting a frozen pizza in the oven or calling for takeout he is useless in the kitchen. He can’t even do a box of mac and cheese. Making food I want and can’t have is rough. I may have to be a little more stern and make him eat my food. If he needs more I guess he will order in?
So frustrating! I’m with you ladies (and gents if you suffer with this too!).
