I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask, but I’m just curious why I can only have one serving of beans a day?
May 23, 2016 at 5:06 am #5095Well the reasoning is that although beans are high in protein, they are pretty high in carbohydrates as well, keeping them to one serving keeps your blood sugar from spiking less…this is important because phase 1 is really about detoxing your body from needing and craving so many carbohydrates, its training you to get rid of those cravings altogether. Even the benign carb sources can hinder this process.
I hope this helps clarify that?

Black bean noodles are just pure black beans, organic – i go with 1/2 of their serving, 25 gr – produced by explore-asian…June 20, 2016 at 8:58 pm #6136Perfect! Thanks for letting me know Marina! Even I can learn something 🙂

June 30, 2016 at 10:10 pm #6532Hi guys..
I started for a week and kinda got discouraged/unmotivated.. I was eating from the approved foods list and then started just eating up to 1000 calories (some approved//not approved foods) . Big mistake. Back to bad habits.
I’m starting over starting tomorrow. hopefully I have better luck!
July 2, 2016 at 6:20 pm #6583You can do it! The first week or 2 are the toughest, but it will get easier and just remember to take it one day at a time! Get right back on it! Stick to the list and try to get rid of the temptations in the house.
July 10, 2016 at 2:25 pm #6910Is almond butter allowed on phase 1 ?
July 11, 2016 at 1:27 pm #6962Yes Almond butter is OK, just be sure it is a brand that only contains almonds, and no other added sugars and other junk. Also be sure to measure and track the servings and calories and it counts as a fat source. It is delicious though!

July 12, 2016 at 8:47 pm #7045Is quinoa allowed in phase 1?
July 13, 2016 at 5:41 pm #7094Sorry Quinoa is not allowed in phase 1 as such neither is rice, sweet potato or regular potatoes. Now Carbs of that nature for this first phase. I promise it will be well worth it though! And in phase 2 you could add in a little bit 🙂
August 2, 2016 at 12:47 am #7995Can I use Garbanzo beans and lentils please? Also any low carb tortilla that can be used instead of Melba toast like in HCG 800 diet?
August 2, 2016 at 5:13 pm #8058Garbanzo beans are ok… a serving is 1/2 cup. Lentils are not on phase 1, and no not even low carb tortillas, try using large crispy lettuce leaves in place of tortillas. The idea is to get you as close to eating a whole foods diet as possible, meaning minimal processing, low sugar and real foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. If you are needing help figuring out foods to swap for traditional items let me know I can do my best to help you find an alternative.
August 10, 2016 at 11:41 pm #8471Is Tofu allowed on Phase 1? Is this a protein?
August 12, 2016 at 1:56 pm #8487Lynnette are you a vegetarian? I think Tofu is ok on phase 1 yes it is a protein, if you are not vegetarian though I would limit your usage of this as it is a soy-based food and consuming too much soy is not necessarily the best. If you are wanting it on occasion I say its ok, but try not to make it a regular substitute for chicken etc.
