I have pcos and have had a terrible time losing weight. Any fellow pcos folks have thoughts on this program and how to make it work?

Hi Mary! I have PCOS and as you know losing weight is a bear. For the first 5 weeks I followed the program perfectly. I lost 15-20 pounds. I weighed 230 at the start and wanted to lose 100 pounds. The program works. Taking out the sugars was huge. Eating clean is probably the best first step you can make.
For me, the 1000 calories was too low, but you will likely find success with this plan if you are honestly following the rules. And like I said I believe eliminating the sugar and the simple carbs was key for the insulin resistance part of our PCOS.

I am getting my book today i believe. So i dont know a lot of the details of the plan, but if fruit is allowed, did you eat it? Im just so tired of not being able to lose weight, i want to be hopeful about this working. Im encouraged by your success but have to ask, you said you lost for the first 5 weeks, but did you stall after that? Im not sure how far you are in your journey. Thanks for your insights!

    Hi Mary,
I ate fruit. There is a list of allowable fruits in the book. I followed that and had two servings a day. Mostly apples.
The reason I fell off after 5 weeks was due to some mental health issues caused by the restricted calories. My doctor bumped me up to 1400. I’m not losing weight at the rapid pace and actually quit weighing in at all. I’m following the spirit of the plan because it is so healthy. I just personally could not do 1000 calories.
We are all different so keep that in mind. Good luck to you!! If you keep to the food lists and reduce your calories you are likely to see success even with the PCOS. I’m so happy you reached out!!

Im sorry its been a rough ride for you. I have ptsd and am concerned about reacting to the plan.
When you increased your caloric intake, did you add proteins or fats? I know fruit wasnt the best option…
