    Hi Jessica,
I called support and was directed to ask my question here. This is my first day on Phase 1. I’m using the Lose It app to help me keep track of calories along with the sample menus in the PS100 book. I am finding that there is a difference in calorie counts for many items. Some are close, but others are rather substantial (when on a 1000 calorie diet). For example, the 5 oz chicken breast in the book is 157 calories and 5 oz chicken breast (skinless, etc.) is 233 on the Lose It app. So I’m wondering what you suggest in terms of finding the best guide for calorie counts. (The differences could mean up to 200 calories in the menu I was trying for today.) THANKS!

That is frustrating I know! So here is the deal if you are noticing a huge discrepancy like that I would cross check it on a site like http://www.caloriecount.com

Also I am not sure if you have ever tried My Fitness Pal, but I personally love this app, I can find EVERYTHING in it so much easier than others that I have used, plus it will save frequently used foods.

So as far as the chicken goes, the lose it app is way off. A 4 oz portion of boneless, skinless chicken breast is actually around 140 calories. On this site you can see that:

Also calorieking.com is helpful and pretty accurate too.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need additional help!

Thank you, Jessica! This helps a lot. I had started using calorie count but I will also check out My Fitness Pal. I like that it’s free. 🙂

Yes My Fitness pal is free, there is a pro version, but I have been using it for years and have never upgraded to it LOL. Also feel free to ask me any questions if you don’t end up finding a clear cut answer on any platform. That is what I am here for!
