Hey everyone I just wanted to take a few moments to ask how everyone tracks their food, progress and goals? I know that personally when I first started losing weight and eating healthy, I relied heavily on tracking my food intake. I did this first in a written journal, but now I actually use an app on my phone. I just wondered if you all are tracking and if it helps you to stay on track? I can offer any advice and guidance you may need on this topic.
March 9, 2016 at 9:08 pm #2164I track on my iPad using the “Loseit” app. I find that journaling really helps me stay on track with my food intake! It’s amazing how quickly calories can add up…if I wasn’t keeping track I’d probably under estimate what I have consumed during the day and go way over the total daily limit!
March 11, 2016 at 3:12 am #2193I completely agree! I have to log daily, and actually enjoy it at this point. It really keeps me accountable to myself! The days I don’t log I definitely think that I do more “mindless” eating. I have never tried the loseit app, I will have to check it out! I use myfitnesspal, I really like it, but always enjoy checking out new apps. Thanks!
March 11, 2016 at 2:11 pm #2208Being in maintenance almost a year – I don’t track – I mentally have my daily foods in a mental box and eat from there. I am the type of person that can eat the same foods on a daily bases – I pick 5 proteins 4 veg and a couple fruits and go with it. I also always carry a protein bar with me in a time of need…. I rarely eat processed foods or unnatural carbs
March 11, 2016 at 9:10 pm #2247Tammy that is so awesome!! I am trying to be more of an “auto pilot” eater. I think it is so much easier to not have to overthink EVERY single meal that we eat. It’s nice to have fun and create new recipes every once and awhile, but my life runs far more smoothly if I automate most of my meals into what I know is a good calorie range for me and just eat those. Thats a really great point to make, thanks for sharing.
March 12, 2016 at 2:25 am #2276I will likely write everything down (I don’t have a very smart phone!). Just a question…..are these forums new? there don’t seem to be that many posts, unless they are archived? I mean, if this has been around for a long while, why are there so few posts?
March 12, 2016 at 5:55 pm #2286Sherri, this forum is new like a little over a week old, so that is why there are fewer posts. I used to write everything down too and in some ways I think that was actually better for me. Many times when I have to be on my phone already so having to be on there again everytime I log food can get old after awhile. As long as we are keeping track of what we are consuming then that is great we are holding ourselves accountable.
May 4, 2016 at 7:03 pm #4465Perfect Diet Tracker is a great app.
May 7, 2016 at 3:45 pm #4530I will have to check that one out! thanks 🙂
May 19, 2016 at 12:43 am #4901I am using MyPlate app. I log in my meals and snacks daily. I fell off the track a few times though. I even log lunch and dinner after breakfast so that I can plan the snacks in between 🙂
May 19, 2016 at 4:40 am #4912That is a smart idea! I love planning ahead like that it makes me feel more in control! Great idea 🙂
May 25, 2016 at 2:08 am #5236Isn’t that neat? 🙂 it also helps to have a sense of the week and I can plan the grocery shopping accordingly
May 25, 2016 at 3:28 am #5239Yes! I do love that concept. I tried it myself the other day and loved not having to think about what I had to eat when I was actually hungry! This is a great concept for many I think!
