Hi Everyone! I’m Becky. I just signed up for this journey. I’m going to be 40 later this year, and have decided now is the time to rediscover myself. I have about 60 pounds to lose, but going for a smaller goal to start. My only concern with the meals, is dinner with my kids. Not so much will they like it, but will there be enough for them. Cooking for two teens can be daunting. I think careful planning once I get my starter pack will be the way to go. Also, I hope to get back on roller skates for my 40th!!
Good luck to everyone on this journey!

February 27, 2017 at 5:36 pm #13050Welcome to the group!! I am 47, received my kit and will be starting on Wednesday with my husband.
I would recommend looking at the recipes that are available here and on FB. Most of them you will have to double up on, but I don’t see anything that a teenager wouldn’t really like 🙂February 27, 2017 at 7:55 pm #13063Welcome Becky and Laura! The main theme you will read is about planning. Go through the recipes and figure out what you want to make for the week. Plan out your snacks. Have healthy options on hand. I make traveling dinners for when we are out and about – hard boiled eggs, raw carrots, raw almonds and fruit. Or make a smoothie for a snack. I do this so I’m not tempted by drive thru restaurants.
Making smaller goals is a great strategy!! Also making goals not based on weight or measurements. Do you feel better? Can you do more in a day? Is your sleep better? More energy? How is your mental health? Do you need to fix those cholesterol numbers? These are some questions I’m asking myself.
Good luck ladies!! We are all here for each other!!February 27, 2017 at 9:30 pm #13065Thanks Vanessa. I never thought to look at goals the way you mentioned. More recently, it’s been okay let’s get these pounds down. I like the goal of I can do this tomorrow for me, not a weight.
February 28, 2017 at 12:14 am #13070Welcome I started on Jan 1 and have lost 27.8 pounds and I am 51. I prep my whole weeks worth of meals on Sunday that way I am never caught with nothing to eat. The recipes are fantastic and I am sure your kids will love them. Think lifestyle not diet and you will find ways to fit this into your current life. This is the best thing you will ever do so stay strong and remember where there is a will there is a way…YOU GOT THIS!!!!
February 28, 2017 at 12:50 am #13073Becky, I have a total of 100 pounds to lose. If I looked at weight I would overwhelm myself before even starting!! However, my cholesterol and triglycerides are also very high. My doctor said losing 5%-10% weight would help those numbers tremendously. And eating healthy is also going to help. No more fast food, pizza or Chinese. I’m going to check these levels again in a couple of months and see how I progressed in terms of HEALTH. I also have aches and pains related to carrying around the extra pounds. My feet hurt, my knees hurt. I hate walking because it tends to make me ache. These are some other measures of success that I will be looking at. I don’t need numbers on a scale to tell me I can walk farther than before.
