Hi everyone, I am new to PS1000 and to actually needing assistance to lose weight. As terrible as that may sounds (or wonderful) my whole life I have been thin, never went to the gym and then the last 3 years have hit me so hard! Now in my 40’s and quit smoking (YAY Go ME) but here I am. The worst part is realizing how truly out of shape I am when going to the gym and needing help with nutrition and everything! It truly is learning a whole new lifestyle and I am super excited!! SOOOO 40 HERE I AM!!!
March 1, 2017 at 4:43 am #13158Welcome Tori! You were a lucky ducky to be skinny. But I have often talked to my personal trainer about how skinny folks can eat unhealthy and be out of shape and heavier folks can actually be super strong and in shape. So I think the main goal for us is to get healthy – which you are doing!! AWESOME!
Quitting smoking is HUGE and so hard. I think you’ve got this program down if you can do that. The rest is just education.
Lean on the forums for questions on menu planning and recipes. That will help you a lot.
Good luck girl! You’ve got great spirit!March 1, 2017 at 3:22 pm #13191
AnonymousInactive@Karma Coins: 0Hi Tori, Good on you for quitting smoking. I feel fortunate that I never started because I know it’s a tough habit to kick. I have two suggestions for you regarding venturing into the world of working out. START OUT SLOWLY. Building a strong body takes time, and the last thing you want to do is injure yourself. FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE. I love to walk, so I do it a lot. I actually enjoy weight lifting and have done it off and on for years, and I practice yoga. If you find something that you like, you’re more likely to stick with it. Just as in losing weight, getting fit takes consistency. Good luck on your new adventure!

AnonymousInactive@Karma Coins: 0Tori – You have made an amazing decision to join this program and get in shape/become healthier. It’s fantastic that you quit smoking – your body will love you for it. And crossing that hurdle shows you have a great ability to make positive changes in your life. I agree with Susan – finding an activity that you enjoy doing will help you stick with any exercise plan you choose to implement. The forums on this site and the facebook page are a terrific source for inspiration and fun recipes. I wish you great success!
March 6, 2017 at 3:40 pm #13417Thank you all so much for your support!! I have started working out and I love the class that I am taking. I have been on the PS1000 for a week and have actually gained 5 pounds, so I am hoping this week I will start losing.
March 6, 2017 at 4:35 pm #13422Welcome! If you have any questions, or need clarification on anything please ask!!
March 13, 2017 at 5:48 pm #13796I am going into week 3 and have gained 4 lbs. I am not sure what to think about that?

AnonymousInactive@Karma Coins: 0I find that every time I do weights, the next morning I weigh 2 to 4 pounds than my usual weight. I do kettlebell training classes 2x/wk along with PiYO or hot yoga 3x/wk. On my non heavy workout days, the weight seems to drop.
March 13, 2017 at 10:07 pm #13807Tori, are you exercising? Eating enough fiber and drinking enough water? Are you eating the full 1000 calories? More if exercising? Your body could be in starvation mode and therefore hanging onto those calories/fat instead of losing.
March 15, 2017 at 10:04 pm #13876I’m feeling like Tori, I’m in week 3 and all I have lost so far is 1.5 lbs, seems like I should be losing more, I barely eat 1000 cal day, mostly 915 or so…. Not sure what I’m doing wrong!! Getting discouraged!!
March 15, 2017 at 10:09 pm #13877Hi August! I would ask you the same questions. Make sure you are eating enough calories. Fewer can be a problem as your body goes into starvation mode and starts to hang on to those calories and your body fat. It may seem counterintuitive but you may need to eat MORE! This depends on your height, weight and how much your BMI is. Another note: if you have been on starvation diets in the past your metabolism may have taken a permanent hit. New research says that when we do this our body doesn’t recover (metabolically speaking). So you may be “eating like a bird” but losing no weight.
March 15, 2017 at 11:38 pm #13879Thank you Vanessa, so true, I will increase my caloric intake and hopefully that would help.
