I’m feeling very positive about changing my eating habits and eating healthy. I’m looking forward to seeing some improvement in my lipid panel and blood pressure.
I had a good morning but ended up weepy. I am chalking that up to my hormones adjusting to the clean eating. The book mentioned that moodiness and irritability could happen. Has anyone else gotten sad for no reason? I am also hoping that it will all level out after a week or two.
I’m still convinced that this is the right program for me. I’m going to learn portion sizes and appropriate foods for good health.
Tomorrow is my official weigh in after three days on the diet. It is hard not to weigh myself everyday!!

AnonymousInactive@Karma Coins: 0I went through exactly the same thing with my moods! It did level out for me at about the two week mark. I also suffer from insomnia and unfortunately that is still an issue for me. I am absolutely sure that the changes I have made (and continue to make) in my lifestyle choices are the reason I am feeling better everyday. I also struggle with whether to weigh daily or weekly. Personally I like a daily weigh in just to make sure I stay on track but I also am very careful not to let the number rule my life and affect how I feel. Instead I live for non-scale victories. Good luck on your weigh-in. Best wishes for great success with this plan!!
February 17, 2017 at 4:26 am #12527Thanks so much Robyn! I struggle with not getting down if the scale doesn’t move. I definitely need to look beyond those numbers. I have 100 pounds to lose, so I’m sure the loss will be rapid at first and then slow down. I’m prepared to repeat phase 1 and 2.
I am also VERY excited about the recipes and food. I made tuna salad today with nonfat plain Greek yogurt and it was delicious!! I love to cook, so trying these new recipes is fun for me! I just need to get used to the new way of eating and let go of the old not healthy recipes. Good bye lasagna!
February 17, 2017 at 2:24 pm #12562Welcome, Vanessa. Love the cat picture-we’re big cat fans at our house. I’ve notices that I’m a lot moodier just before it’s time to eat again. I had headaches my first few days; they decreased after the first week.
Your cookbooks at home may also contain recipes that use the approved foods or will with only minor substitutions. After a while, the variety will be appreciated. This diet is relatively easy to follow because there are enough food choices to rearrange into menus.
I try to weigh in once each week -my weight goes up and down during the week (even during the day), and that can frustrate me. I do check it if I cheat-just to reinforce how much I set myself back (usually 0.5-1 pound). My scale measures in increments of 0.5 pounds. My teenagers have noticed a difference in my shape already after only 8 pounds (I lose very slowly). The scale number is only part of the improvement package. Yesterday, I wore my jeans for the first time in a year. My weight loss goals are set 10 pounds at a time to help keep me motivated.
Even if the scale doesn’t register big differences, the health improvements will become apparent over time. Your lipid levels and blood pressure will probably improve. Some of the foods eliminated by this diet are also allergens for me. My breathing is better, so I am able to exercise a little more. I also think my borderline blood pressure has lowered, although I lack empirical evidence. Your off to a great start-keep going!February 17, 2017 at 5:47 pm #12566Hi Paula!
Thanks for the nice words and pep talk! I lose super slow too. What a bummer! I’m hoping to stay focused on the health improvements. A couple of weeks ago one of my doctors threw out weight loss surgery. For some reason that scared the bejeezus out of me! I got to thinking that a surgery option would require a permanent diet change so why not do a diet change without the risks of surgery?? And here I am.I will take a look through some cookbooks. I cook a lot for friends so I guess everyone is going to get some PS1000 exposure!! During grill season I’ll just have to treat myself to a lean steak instead of ribs I guess. I’m up for the challenge though!
The great part about my fur babies is they don’t judge me like some relatives do. I’d say the cats and dog are my greatest support aside from my husband (and friends of course). I can’t pick my relatives though. It is rough being the heavy one in the family. I am happy to live many states away! Even though this diet change is for me, it will feel good to lose all of this weight.
It feels good just to be making the right choices!
February 17, 2017 at 9:16 pm #12572Hi Vanessa,
I’m on Day 3 as well and I have about 80 lbs to lose. You can do it!
February 17, 2017 at 9:20 pm #12573Thanks Ashley! Good luck to you too! I’m loving eating healthy. It feels like an accomplishment in and of itself.
February 17, 2017 at 9:49 pm #12576The good thing about living far away from relatives is the massive “WOW” you will get when you see them again 🙂 Use this as a motivator! You can do it, just stay consistent, and don’t let the cravings get the best of you! It took time to put the weight on, and it might take some time to get it off. WELCOME!
Lauren
February 18, 2017 at 5:28 am #12583Thanks for the reminder Lauren. I anticipated doing phase 1 twice. Maybe more. You are right – this weight crept up over about ten years. Although half of it came in the last two years. Still, losing 100 pounds won’t happen in a month! I’m going to keep doing the soul searching to be happy with non weight improvements!
Thanks for the support!!!!
February 22, 2017 at 9:24 pm #12792Hi Vanessa,
I too have very loving fur babies of the feline species 🙂 They don’t care what I look like as long as they get their cuddle time in 🙂 My goal is to lose around 100lbs. If more, great!
My mother is my “debbie-downer”, we live in separate states but still talk quite frequently on the phone. Even though she is no skinny minny herself (only weighs about 60 less than me), I continuously hear about how I need to get this weight off, how miserable I must be, etc. Unfortunately I have heard this all my life and I have not been heavy all my life. So I told her I was going to be starting this lifestyle change when my order arrives. Her comment “oh that will be great if you stick to it. Then maybe you will do something about your hair” … really?!?! lol I am 47 and have long hair and she says middle-aged women don’t look good with long hair …
I have learned to let most of it go in one ear and out the other, but when she is saying this stuff around my husband or my children I start really feeling conscientious about myself.
So good luck to all of us because we are all already beautiful people 🙂February 23, 2017 at 1:00 am #12808Man Terrie! I feel ya! I have 100 pounds to lose and it seems so daunting. I need to keep reminding myself how long it took to add the weight on. I do have some wonderful friends, among the fur babies, that love me no matter what – without judgment.
My whole family is full of judgments. They all live far away but for some reason my mom loves to talk about people’s weight. I came home in a dress one time and they called it a moo moo.
Anyone’s weight or looks should be the LAST issue we notice or discuss. I guess it is our society.
In this vein – I read that the SI swimsuit edition has several curvy women inside the cover. Baby steps I guess. There are some Lane Bryant ads inside too. I found another article about plus sized models and had to snort when they mentioned a size 10! Uh… that isn’t plus size to me, but what do I know??!!! - AuthorPosts
