I’m starting my phase 1 today. I once did the Game On plan and find many of the food choices and eating plan very similar so I believe I will do okay with this. I’m curious about the drops and after my first dose this morning, feeling pretty normal and no unwanted effects yet. I have a total of 70 pounds to lose, I know it will take time, but am hopeful that I’ll have half of that left by my birthday in June. I’m also interested in probiotics to maintain a healthy gut so any info and tips on that topic are welcome!
March 2, 2016 at 12:06 am #1577Hi Jan, I have been on this for over 3 years now. Mostly maintaining for the last 2 years. I wish you luck and strong will and you can do it!
March 2, 2016 at 3:24 pm #1647Hi Jan. I’ve only been doing this for about a month, but can see and feel a difference already! It’s a great program if you stick to it! I use Renew Life probiotics. I’ve had a lot of success with them. The 50 billion is great if you have any gut issues.
March 2, 2016 at 3:43 pm #1650Hi, everyone! Thanks for supporting each other and sharing your experiences. My name is Rachel, and I am one of the resident Nutritionists here. I’m here to support you and answer any questions you might have! Probiotics are excellent for both digestive and immune support, and I recommend a broad spectrum product, unless otherwise specified by a practitioner. The Renew brand sold here is great, and I also love Pure Encapsulations brand, which can be found on Amazon.
March 2, 2016 at 8:00 pm #1747Hello Jan! I am Jessica and also one of the resident Nutritionists here. You are going to do awesome on your plan! It’s great that you have realistic goals in place also and are familiarized with the food choices. I wanted to piggyback off of Rachel’s suggestions and also add in that another great source for probiotics is Greek Yogurt. In Phase 1 recipes there are some great ways to prepare Greek Yogurt that are tasty and will provide you with a natural probiotic source. I hope this helps with your question. At least in the meantime of figuring out if you want to go the pill form of probiotics you could work in one serving of Greek Yogurt daily to aid in your digestion.
March 3, 2016 at 12:32 pm #1810Welcome Jan.you can and will do this. The plan and product are both great. However, I believe the support system offered here is a huge component to my success. You realize you are not alone. It helps you keep realistic expectations and keep you focused. You get great encouragement, recipe ideas, and general community of great supporters. So enjoy the ride and reap the rewards.
March 3, 2016 at 1:16 pm #1811Just one more note on probiotics..my favourite food source of probiotics is RAW SAUERKRAUT! Fermented foods have been used traditionally all over the world for their medicinal value, and are packed with probiotics from vegetable sources. Diary can definitely offer probiotics too (as Jessica mentioned), but remember that dairy is a “building food,” so isn’t always your best friend when it comes to weight loss. You can find raw sauerkraut at your local health food store, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even make it at home! Try 1/4-1/2 cup per day alongside any meal.
March 7, 2016 at 3:47 am #1974Does anyone have a favorite brand of raw sauerkraut? How about good recipe? Is it possible to make without sugar and use stevia, or is the sugar needed to get the fermentation?
March 7, 2016 at 2:36 pm #1995Judalon, I do not know of a good one myself…maybe Rachel know’s? I am actually wanting to start incorporating raw sauerkraut as well so I will ask around in the Nutritionists realm…I will keep you posted 🙂
March 7, 2016 at 4:05 pm #2004Hi Jan, welcome to the best support group you could ask for!! My name is Sue Cobb and I have been on the plan for 7 weeks, and I just completed my 6th goal on my Journey to being a better me!! I have gone from 157.8 (158) to 140, and I am soooo thrilled. Set yourself some realist “mile markers” for your journey and you will reach your destination too! Don’t get discouraged if you find your path “blocked” or run into “stalled traffic”, find a detour and get back on track 😉
I keep a post it note on my mirrors so I say them out loud everyday to get my morning started off right: “Just Do It!! – If it is to be ITS UP TO ME!!!”. We look forward to hearing about your success in the coming days, so keep focused. YOU CAN DO THIS.March 7, 2016 at 9:23 pm #2025I am starting today too. Bit of a strange time to start as I worked a 12hr shift last night. So instead of having a lunch I just went with breakfast and 2 snacks as I slept half of the day away 🙂 So far I am feeling pretty satisfied and managing to down the minimum amount of water (I’m notoriously bad at drinking water). I’ll be on a regular schedule now until next Sunday night. Any suggestions on dealing with working a night shift would be appreciated. I generally just take a vegetable and fruit shake to work with me for the night as I don’t feel like eating a meal and rarely get time anyway!! I hit the scales at 180lbs and just died, I wasn’t even that heavy at 9months pregnant, so I am aiming for at least a 40lbs reduction.
March 8, 2016 at 5:09 pm #2093First off go you!!! You didn’t wait until the perfect Monday morning to start your Phase 1. I would say the biggest tip I have is to make sure that your sleep when you are on night shift gets figured out as this will likely drive your cravings and make Phase 1 harder. So really try to get as good of a sleep schedule down as possible! Secondly I think I need to know more about how long you have to work at nights? You should probably bring in some protein with you as well. Protein will keep you full and provide your body and brain with the alertness you need. So some easy to bring protein sources are Hard boiled eggs, cooked meats, black beans etc. I think the biggest thing is just like for anyone else, plan ahead…plan your meals, prep some of your meals and portion them out into separate containers that make it easy to grab and go. If you need some tips on that I have an article in the Articles tab on Meal planning and prepping 🙂 Keep up the fantastic attitude! You will hit your goal for sure if you can maintain a positive outlook throughout 🙂
March 8, 2016 at 9:37 pm #2124I also work 12 hr shifts which equal out to 14 plus days from the time I leave my house till I get home – plus I work very odd hrs – what helped me was I pre packed my food allotment for the day, put it in a box/bag and ate out of that. By doing this it helped me spread my food over my waking hours and I didn’t feel “stuck” at work and started shoving those delicious hospital grahmn crackers ? in my mouth because I was starving. I also drank a 32 oz water on my 20 minute ride to work and ride home. I currently am almost a my year date of meeting goal.
March 12, 2016 at 10:08 pm #2293Hi I am just starting today. I am going to the store to buy my weeks worth of food. I work as chaotic desk job so in order to make sure I am staying on time with my drops and food. I am going to set a timer on my phone. I think that will keep me on time with everything. I was reading the allowed food list and saw that eggs also count as a protein. Is one egg considered one protein? I wasn’t clear by the list.
March 15, 2016 at 12:41 am #2408You can have 2 eggs to be considered one protein. Just limit that to once per day as there is quite a bit of fat in them as well. So also remember that you need to count them as 1 fat source for the day also.
I like the timer idea!
