I lost 9.5 pounds my first 2 weeks on the program. I was ecstatic about my progress. Mentally, I knew that I was likely to face a slow down period, but it was very challenging when my weight actually fluctuated up and down a bit in week 3. I ended up losing 1 pound in week 3. I was trying very hard to stay positive – any loss is a great thing, but it was challenging.
I did stick to it though, and half-way through week 4 I have already lost 3 pounds. I know I’m unlikely to match my first week again, but it is very encouraging to see that a slowdown isn’t necessarily permanent. I’m thrilled that I’ve already lost more than half the weight I need to break into the healthy BMI range. My goal weight is around the middle of the range, but I’m excited that I’m not to far from a healthy weight.
I’m sure I’ll see more peaks and valleys before I get there – particularly as I get closer to my final goal – so I wanted to post this to help me to remember not to get discouraged. The scale doesn’t tell the whole story. I know I wouldn’t have believed 3 months ago that I would be having this kind of success preparing my own meals and planning my own menus. This plan is just what I needed!

AnonymousInactive@Karma Coins: 0Carol – Just wanted to thank you for your insight. I have gained after a week and a half off the program so it’s not quite the same as a plateau but realizing that peaks and valleys are inevitable helps me to keep things in perspective.
February 27, 2017 at 10:00 pm #13069I went on a week long cruise at the beginning of the month. I knew I would gain a little weight, and I did. However, I’ve been back on the plan for about a week and a half now, and I’m happy to say that I’ve lost back the weight I gained, and starting to lose “new weight” again. It was hard staying as motivated as usual when I was “relosing” weight I had lost before the trip. I’m hoping that will get easier again now that I’m working to weight I hadn’t lost already last month.
March 7, 2017 at 4:31 am #13491Carol, thank you so much for your post. I had similar issues. I also tend to let my mental status be swayed by the scale. Like you I need to remind myself that we are in this to be healthy! To mitigate some of my mental thought processes I weigh in less and I will only measure myself once a month. I still hit peaks, so I just have to remind myself that I might have weighed myself during a valley last time!
