Has anyone else found the second week to be difficult? I am feeling hungry now (unlike last week) so food seems to be on my mine all the time, which I don’t think is very good. Also, I had to deal with going out twice with people from work during this week and that was tough. The first time was for drinks – I had ice water with lemon. The second was a girls night out – I checked out the menu before hand and found a yummy salad with apple, pecans and dried cranberries and asked for only oil and vinegar for my dressing so I made it through both nights, but I gotta say I missed my glass of wine tremendously (as others indulged) and some CHEESE! Weighing in on Sunday – I sure hope staying on track was worth it!

Janice – Staying on track is always worth it even if you don’t see the numbers on the scale move down. It is a congratulatory pat on the back that you have embraced your new healthy lifestyle. You go girl!As for the second week being more difficult – you will find that the day to day will go up and down and some incidents will definitely make your mind focus on food than others. It is a nasty trick our minds play on us. When I start thinking too much about food, I redirect myself with a quick walk around the block, working a bit on my favorite hobby, or visiting the fb page for a little encouragement from the great support there. I still find it a challenge to stay on plan when I am in a social setting that involves food full of fats and sugars but with a little clever advance planning (like you did) we can find ourselves enjoying the experience AND being proud of ourselves when the evening is over. Keep up the great work and good luck on your weigh in. Just remember to count those non-scale victories as well.

You made some great choices. Good job! It is tough when you are out at a restaurant, but there are at least some good choices on the menu.
I also got hungry, especially when I started exercising in week 3. I even began gaining weight instead of losing. It turned out that I actually needed to eat more to continue losing weight. Although I still do get hungry at times, making sure there is a protein every time that I eat helps a lot. Cheese and wine are also big temptations for me. When I do break down and cheat, it’s usually one of those. Fortunately, only a very small amount satisfies the craving for about a week. I’ve tried making a savory dip by blending cottage cheese with herbs and garlic, and it has helped.
