Paula,
Happy birthday! Thanks for sharing. I have definitely had to modify some of my time-based weight loss goals as well. Working towards a specific goal by a particular time can be motivating for me, but it can also be really discouraging when things come up that set me back so that I won’t hit my goal in the originally planned…[Read more]

I don’t have a lot of great advice on how not to “backslide” on these occasions, but I do have some advice for those times when you do. I know it is disappointing when we don’t make the best choices and the scale goes the wrong way, but cut yourself some slack. If you do lose a little ground on your weight loss, focus on the progress that you…[Read more]

That was great! I hope you love the plan as much as I have. The first week was the hardest I think. I’m turning 50 next week, and I think I’ll probably reach my healthy BMI by then. The plan really works. Good luck!!
Carol Pfeiffer replied to the topic I need help with designing a meal plan. A Example for a day. in the forum Before & After … and In-Between 7 years, 6 months ago
I felt the same way at first. I actually put together a spreadsheet to help me with my meal planning because it was tough for me too. A lot of folks use meal planning apps. That can make it a lot easier. It was really hard for me the first couple of weeks, but once I had a couple weeks of menus planned it started to get a lot easier.
I use…[Read more]

I started the PS1000 plan a little after the beginning of the year. I was interested in the plan because it had great ratings and also because it focused on real meal planning and preparation. My hope was that this time I wouldn’t just lose weight, but I was also develop healthier habits.
While I’ve been on the diet, I’ve had a few major…[Read more]

I went on a week long cruise at the beginning of the month. I knew I would gain a little weight, and I did. However, I’ve been back on the plan for about a week and a half now, and I’m happy to say that I’ve lost back the weight I gained, and starting to lose “new weight” again. It was hard staying as motivated as usual when I was “relosing”…[Read more]

Robin,
Glad you liked my ideas. Glad to share the recipe I came up with. I’m still tweaking it a bit (mainly to see if I can make it “prettier”), but I really enjoy it.
I call it “Cheesy Zoodle Bake”
The recipe makes 6 servings. They do freeze and reheat well, so I take out what I want and portion the rest out into servings to freeze for…[Read more]

I’ve enjoyed pairing some grapes with a Tbsp of homemade almond butter on the days when I don’t need my healthy fats for my meals. The almond butter recipe online had me blanche the almonds, but I had better luck just blending the raw almonds (and adding a bit of coconut oil like in the online recipe and a touch of salt). For whatever reason, I…[Read more]

I still have some of the homemade chocolate toffee in the house that was left-over from Christmas. After sticking to the plan 100% for my first week of the program, I let myself have a very tiny bite of toffee a few days during the second week. While it still tasted good, I was surprised to find that it wasn’t nearly as wonderful as it was…[Read more]

I lost 9.5 pounds my first 2 weeks on the program. I was ecstatic about my progress. Mentally, I knew that I was likely to face a slow down period, but it was very challenging when my weight actually fluctuated up and down a bit in week 3. I ended up losing 1 pound in week 3. I was trying very hard to stay positive – any loss is a great thing,…[Read more]

If it’s any help, I’ve been on the program 3 weeks now. In the first 2 weeks I lost more than 9 lbs. In the third week, my weight loss slowed way down. I lost one pound. But I stuck with it, and now in my fourth week, the weight loss seems to be picking up again. I think sometimes when we diet, our bodies are making internal adjustments that…[Read more]

I’ve been married four years, and my husband and I haven’t ever really gotten into a good pattern of cooking regularly. As a result, we had gotten into the habit of eating out a lot, and when we didn’t, we didn’t have a lot of healthy options available to us to cook at home.
We’ve gone on diets before with prepared meals. While those helped us…[Read more]

Thanks, Jessica. On most days we are only drinking one protein shake a day, but it is nice to have the option of a second shake on days where I’m running short of options for my 5 proteins!

I know the plan recommends including 1 protein shake daily. Is it OK to use protein shakes for 2 of my daily proteins on some days?

I see chickpeas in a number of Phase 1 recipes. Are they and allowed food? If so, what is their category and serving size?

Carol Pfeiffer started the topic When are you supposed to move to Phase 2? in the forum Phase 1 7 years, 8 months ago
I tried to find this in the book, but I was unsuccessful. When are you supposed to move on to Phase 2 for best results? It looks like you typically have some, much slower, weight loss in Phase 2. That’s why I wonder about the timing. I know you stay in Phase 1 between 21 and 90 days, but I don’t know what the trigger for moving is. Are you…[Read more]

All the healthy cooking is definitely new for me. It’s part of the reason I decided to do this program. I’ve been successful on diets like Jenny Craig before, but then when I stop the prepared foods, I don’t have any good new habits. I’m hoping that this will really help me long term too. My husband decided to try it too, and he’s waiting on…[Read more]

Thanks for the suggestions. The approach makes a lot of sense. I’m just a little over a week in now, and I’m really glad that I didn’t wait to start. I’ve lost 8 lbs. so far. Some of that was probably very easy to lose holiday cookie weight, but I’ve never had such a quick start on a new diet. On top of that, I don’t feel hungry.
I know the…[Read more]
