Lisa and Kristin, This program does work. Track your calories and drink the recommended amount of water. This is more about learning a lifestyle to maintain your weight over a lifetime, than a way to loose 10 or 15 pounds quickly. Brings whole new meaning to the expression– ‘get with the program!’

Sleep is really important. Just have a look at some of the research on the links between stress and lack of sleep and weight gain/overweight. Even more importantly, In the last 2 years neuroscientists just found the glymphatic system in the brain. Apparently, it takes out waste from the brain– but only if you sleep well. Sleep medications,…[Read more]

Okay Kim, we are almost in the same place, and I hear you. I am inspired by your posts.
I am down 15.1 pounds this morning. In Canada, we celebrated our Thanksgiving last month, but I am truly thankful for this program. I was at a public health lecture last night and the researcher talked about how advertising and knowledge are not particularly…[Read more]

The way PS1000 lifestyle is similar to Mediterranean lifestyle is the increase in vegetables and omega 3 and 6 fats. As others have said, the Mediterranean diet allows grains/pasta. Both sugar and white flour will raise your triglycerides and blood sugar so to me avoiding sugar and white carbohydrates that are easily converted into blood sugar/…[Read more]

The size of a deck of cards, but if you can get a good digital scale and weigh what you eat. I use a scale because portion sizes or the size of a deck of cards tends to grow quite quickly.

You will lose weight, but if you have been on a number of diets prior to this, it may take your body time to get with the program. Get a good digital scale and make sure that you weigh your food. I find portion sizes tend to creep up unless I do. Also drink your water. I was drinking 8 and I need to drink 12.

Sounds like you are going to be much healthier before and after the wedding. I think taking this journey is a great way to learn together.

Congratulations with the 3 pounds. That’s a huge loss. The problem with being on all kinds of diets previously is that your body metabolism adapts. Your metabolism takes time to get with the program. Apparently hormones play a large role in weight loss and I think that given some time, this plan will moderate those out of whack hormones.
I too…[Read more]Sharon Sanderson replied to the topic Rough Start in the forum Newcomers Start Here 6 years, 10 months ago
Hi Jamie Harris, How are you doing now? Is it getting better?
Sharon Sanderson replied to the topic Starting tomorrow, tips? in the forum Newcomers Start Here 6 years, 10 months ago
I think the best part of a group is getting answers to questions quickly and learning what works for others. Then, because losing and keeping the weight off is about maintaining lifestyle changes you have to decide what you can live with. Tracking is an excellent way to understand that. The recipes section is great! It really helped me with meal…[Read more]

The portion size is the biggest weight gain problem for me. It will be great if your husband can tailor those recipes to trim the calories.
Good luck and hang in there.Sharon Sanderson replied to the topic Whar a difference a day makes! in the forum Newcomers Start Here 6 years, 10 months ago

Thanks Linda for this site.
I notice that when I don’t go for a daily walk, the calories I burn per day on my Fitbit tracker are perilously close to 1000.Sharon

I too noticed the “feeling better” the first week.
Keep with the program, I think that weight loss is hard because of hormones/menopause. However, this type of food will normalize your hormones. It may just take your body a bit longer for those hormone levels to start to normalize, but as you follow the program I am sure that your weight loss…[Read more]Sharon Sanderson replied to the topic Ready for a change in the forum Newcomers Start Here 6 years, 11 months ago
Well, I am a week ahead of you. I think that you are going to do just fine!
I just finished my first week and lost 3.2 pounds. That is a huge amount for me. On other diets, my weight has gone up and down like a toilet seat! The key for me has been weighing and tracking my food. I log anything that goes in my mouth on my phone or computer.

Congratulations– feeling better is really positive feedback. It fits with the Nudge model used by Nobel Prize winner in economics says — positive feedback works.
